COVID - 19 - EFFORT TO SEND MEDICAL SUPPLIES TO NEEDY HOSPITALS

As you are all aware, India is facing a crisis like never before due to the pandemic. It's spreading fast, affecting the health of thousands of our people. Indian healthcare system is put to test and is cracking under pressure. It is time we step forward and do our part to give back and help our people fight back against the virus.

Indian healthcare system needs a huge support with medical supplies so it can help save precious lives. MSCF is requesting you to donate to help procure medical supplies like portable oxygen canisters, supplements, etc and send them to the needy hospitals in India through a reputed Non-Profit Organization.

MSCF has in the past successfully executed several charitable efforts where the funds collected are sent directly to the needy people. We assure that all funds collected through this effort will be spent fully towards helping needy hospitals by avoiding overhead fees.

Kindly note,

  1. All donations to MSCF are tax-deductible
  2. Check with your employer for donation match

COVID-19 - HELP AFFECTED PEOPLE IN TAMIL NADU (Phase 2)

With India on lockdown since March due to COVID-19 pandemic, and the lockdown extended for another two weeks from May 4th, the poor and underprivileged population are the most affected due to sudden loss of their livelihood. During the phase 1 of lockdown, MSCF worked with a partner to provide food packets to needy people in Bangalore. Please see phase 1 updates in below.

As part of our phase 2 efforts, with needs becoming dire now with prolonged lockdown in India, MSCF has identified a non-profit organization Reaction Team (http://reactionteam.org/) that is working on ground in Tamil Nadu to help people in need. Few of our past and present members either are part of the team or were directly/indirectly involved in its work so we have thorough recommendation for the organization to partner with.

We are also reviewing the needs of our local community due to the impact of COVID-19 in Central Florida.

We are requesting donations from members to help with following causes.

  1. Help provide ration or cooked food for poor and under privileged people in Tamil Nadu through Reaction Team's volunteers on ground
  2. Help assess and donate food materials to local food pantries in Orlando

Select purpose as COVID-19 - MSCF Helps (Phase 2). The payment is accepted in a secured website.

COVID-19 - FEED THE NEED IN INDIA (Phase 1)

With India on lockdown till Apr 14, homeless and mentally challenged people are the most affected who are vulnerable to hunger and starvation. There are also thousands of immigrant laborers who are trying to flee the cities to their homes and stuck without food and transportation.

MSCF worked with a great team of volunteers from Skoruz Technologies to help people affected by Chennai Floods in 2015. Our partnership helped to take every dollar* you contributed directly to people in need without any overhead. We are partnering with Skoruz Technologies again whose employees are already on ground and distributing food for the needy.

Please click here to read Skoruz's work in the news.

What is Skoruz's Plan?

  1. Target population - Homeless, mentally challenged, poor immigrant laborers
  2. Meals per day - Averaging about 200 to 300 per day, and ramping up as need arises
  3. Cost per meal - Rs. 30 per pack
  4. Till when? - Apr 14
  5. Cities - Chennai and Bangalore

What is MSCF's plan?

  1. Benefit of working with Skoruz - Every $ donated* is guaranteed to be used to directly benefit the needy. Proven partnership during Chennai Floods relief efforts.
  2. Meals per day - 200
  3. No. of days - 16 - till Apr 14
  4. Total cost - 30 x 16 x 200 = Rs 96,000 ($1300)
  5. Can we do more? - Yes, we can. While it is monetarily easy for us to contribute more, we are still working with Skoruz to identify additional needs and their ability to scale. Once we confirm additional needs we will raise more funds.
  6. Accountability and transparency - Members from BOD will be part of a daily online briefing from Skoruz volunteers on daily effort.

In this first round of fundraising we plan to raise only $1300 (+$40 for fees) for this immediate need. Once additional needs are identified, we will perform another round of fundraising.

How do I donate?

Thank you all for the donations.
